Bloomsburg Lacrosse Falls to #2 West Chester

WEST CHESTER - Freshman Kimberly Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) scored four goals for the Huskies but it wasn't enough as the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team fell to second-ranked West Chester by a 16-8 score. The loss moved the Huskies to 7-6, 7-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) while the Golden Rams improved to a conference best 11-0 (13-1 overall).

Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) scored the first goal of the game just 55 seconds into the first half. West Chester answered with a goal at the 27 minute mark but the Huskies picked up goals from Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) and Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) in the 21st minute to take a 3-1 lead.

With 16:14 remaining in the first half, the score was knotted at 3-3 but West Chester score three straight goals to take a 6-3 lead. Springman notched her first score of the contest on a free-position goal at 7:42 but once again the Golden Rams countered with a goal and sent the game into the half leading 7-4.

West Chester continued it's attack with three straight goals to open the second half as the Golden Rams took an 11-4 lead. The Huskies saw three more goals from Springman and one more from Taylor but could not contain West Chester's potent offense and fell 16-8.

In goal for the Huskies, Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower) stopped nine shots against one of the conference's best scoring attacks.

For West Chester, Mary Beth Green saved six shots while Stephanie Kienle lea all scorers with nine points off six goals and three assists.

Bloomsburg will next travel to Lock Haven on Monday for a 3:00 game against the sixth-ranked Lady Eagles.
